Freed by the Eternal Guardians from the punishment the god Zeus had condemned him to after giving fire to the human race the Titan Prometheus lives in a self-imposed solitude in Argolea, watching over the child he failed at being a father to and remaining neutral to the power struggles going on between mortal men and the gods. But he’s haunted by an alluring voice in the darkness, a woman’s voice that asks him to seek her out. He ponders if the isolation has caused him hallucinations or if he’s just gone insane, after thousands of years of agonizing torment losing his mind is within the realm of possibility. But the voice, then fleeting visions of a beautiful ethereal woman continue and he follows knowing if not a figment of his imagination then there must be some magic at work.

A woman with powerful magic has watched Prometheus in his freedom, she understands the pains he’s suffered as she is now a prisoner of the god that enslaved the Titan long ago. She does have an escape plan that involves the Titan but can she convince him to help her without revealing her identity which would surely repel him? Can she maintain the pretense of helping Zeus to attain her agenda? Being imprisoned led her to re-evaluate the focus of the life that she’d led. Getting to know Prometheus showed her what she’d been missing all her life.

This novella was a great spin on the tale of Prometheus, alone for so long he finds the unexpected, a woman who makes him feel alive again and she is no ordinary woman. But there is true wickedness at play, his sworn enemy has not forgotten him. This reader loved how the tables were turned on Zeus even if it might not last for long and how even for the immortals falling in love truly changes a soul.

This is a most enjoyable series based on Greek mythology which were fascinating tales in themselves. The characters were captivating, they had depth and showed growth, the action at the ending was quite suspenseful leaving this reader wondering how things could end well for the protagonists. History was provided where needed so you could just step into the series without feeling you missed anything.

You know a book’s good when you’re still thinking about the characters and the plot two, three days after you’ve finished, especially when it’s a novella.
Prometheus, as we all know, was not only a Greek God, but a Titan, who stole the Celestial fire and gave it to mankind. This didn’t go over well with power-hungry Zeus who craved man's prayers and worship so, for this humane act, he was chained to a rock and endured a giant eagle ripping into his body and devouring his liver on a daily basis. This was his reality until, he was released by the Argonauts. Now, Prometheus spends his days in solitude, finding it hard to accept his daughter's forgiveness for being gone most of her life.
Believing himself on the brink of madness, he keeps hearing a sultry female voice calling out to him. Circe, the tall, beautiful daughter of the Goddess Hecate who was the most powerful sorceress ever existed, is being pressured by Zeus to find the water element. Whoever holds all four elements and the Orb of Kronos gains power over all realms. One has to always remember, when making deals with Zeus, always read the fine print.
Nothing is more important to him, with the exception of re-capturing Prometheus and the annihilation of the Argonauts.
Even with being a Novella, the characters were well developed. I sometimes find the relationship to be a bit rushed in the shorter stories, but not in this case. The chemistry practically sizzled when they finally met and the story moved along very well. Both characters were so endearing especially with what was at stake. You could almost feel the loneliness that they both have endured for so long and to see the total excitement he displays just thinking about seeing her. Like a high-schooler on his first major date with the girl he never thought would say yes. Even though neither had much experience with true romance, their coming together was explosive and off the charts.
Prometheus was a true hero and like a man who knows what he wants, he didn’t let a little think like walking into Zeus’s backyard stop him from getting his woman. When things looked dismal and all was lost, a little help from some formidable friends saw Circe and Prometheus dealing a long overdue reckoning to a wholly deserving character.
The gloves are off, the battle lines have been drawn and the title fight is about to take place. Who's left standing after the dust settles is anyone’s guess? I for one, cannot wait. I wholeheartedly recommend this Novelle which can be read as a stand alone, but is so much more enjoyable when read in order of the Argonauts continuing story.
